About Mimi and Markov

See the comics here.

Mimi and Markov is a comic strip series based on Nina Paley’s Mimi and Eunice. New strips are generated using discrete-time Markov chains by my program Markov Comic Generator. The humor is in the absurdity. It’s like a game of Exquisite Corpse played entirely by computer.

Want to know the details? Check out the program’s readme on GitHub. You can also find all the source code there.

Mimi and Markov also depends on the Mimi and Eunice transcripts project and the Nina Paley Fonts.

If you like Mimi and Markov, check out these strips which inspired me to create it:

  1. I love how Markov-chain-based comics always seem like they’re starting in the middle of a badly translated conversation. It leaves a lot of room for interpretation of the imagery.

  2. These kinds of comics are so much more fun when you have two or more people read them out loud 😀
